So, lots of trains;
Underground to London St Pancras, Eurostar to Gare du Nord, RER to Gare du Lyon, on to Venice, then to Rome. & rest. Then Rome to Milan, Milan to Paris, metro around and about & finally Eurostar & tube home.
The Man in Seat 61 has been as invaluable as ever & www.seat61.com was the starting point for pretty much all the travel on this trip.
The tightest connection is our first. Gare Du Nord to Gare Du Lyon. 1717 to 2000. Should be plenty of time but there would be a huge impact if EuroStar runs late. Moral of this tale? Don’t book train tickets on foreign websites at the end of a relaxing evening!
