Norway 2013

Looks very cold outside but we are both still to warm in the hotel. Off to explore Tromso in the daylight as the sun comes up over the hill.

We are now sat in our lovely hotel room looking across Tromso harbour to the Arctic Cathedral and the bridge linking Tromso Island to its neighbour.

The trip from the airport to the hotel was very simple on the Flybussen although trying to track our journey on the map was less easy. They seem to have carved a whole road network complete with roundabouts under the middle if the island. Very Bond Villain.

The hotel is as great as we expected, the buffet dinner – even the bits left at 8.30 pm – was very good, a filling hot dog casserole with crusty bread followed by cheese and biscuits.

We then went for a stroll around Tromso and quickly realised just how cold it is. We did get to see more of TNL. Nothing we could photo & Sar’s description of them being like ghosts in the sky was perfect.

At a more earthly level the slippers in the hotel are ridiculously long. Amy could ski with them.

Time for choccies, coffee and sniffters methinks.

Now wandering along the front at Tromso, getting cold.

Just seen TNL from the plane. Not a great display but definitely there. Lights on the plane were turned off for a while & they showed clearly.

Now descending back through the clouds to land at Tromso. Hopefully more later.

Back on the plane and back with the Wi-Fi. Good way to find out how #LFC are dishing it out to Swansea. It’s already been a very long day. Both of us have at least 1 to many layers on & Owen made the right decision not to travel in his snow boots. Feet are roasting.

I guess we have a chance of seeing TNL – The Northern Lights – from the plane so no shut eye if I can help it. War is nodding already – not that she ever sleeps whilst traveling.

We’ve reached the next stop on our trip. Oslo airport. As seems to be the way there was a lot of walking around in circles & up & down escalators to get back to where you almost started. The security checks were slower than Gatwick but still not to bad. The inconsistency is annoying however. PCs tablets etc in a separate tray but you could keep your boots on. Camera tripod had to be taken out here but not earlier. Didn’t manage to get a great shot of Chris’s sculpture – maybe on the way back.

Unless it is the size of Sar’s hand luggage.

But I am sure about this.
